Case studies

A long history of solving awkward business problems.

These examples come from the IT Partnership archive. The technology in some projects is now historical; the underlying problems — unreliable processes, inaccessible data and software that does not fit the business — are still familiar.

Manufacturing · Historical project

Rolls-Royce: specialist tooling control

The problem. Expensive broaching tools had long lead times, limited regrind lives and complex set-management rules. Manual control made it difficult to minimise stock without risking production delays.

The solution. IT Partnership built a bespoke application to track tool availability, stock value, regrind lives, sets, replacement orders and overdue supplier deliveries.

Reported result: Rolls-Royce's Ansty factory reduced broach stock levels by 30% while also reducing hold-ups. The archived case study says the stock saving paid for the software within six months.
Data migration & web access · Historical project

Commonwealth War Graves Commission: making records accessible

The problem. Grave information was held in thousands of legacy word-processing documents on a stand-alone PC, making updates and access laborious.

The solution. IT Partnership automated the migration and clean-up of the records into a database, then provided secure web access for authorised staff around the UK.

Scale: the archived project records state that 13,000 cemeteries and 170,000 grave records were successfully imported.
Training & conference administration · Historical project

Chartered Institute of Housing: replacing an ageing package

The problem. Existing course and conference software had become slow, difficult to use and unsupported, while the organisation's requirements were becoming more complex.

The solution. IT Partnership built a new administration system covering course setup, delegate booking, invoicing, payments, statements, reporting and accounting outputs.

Reported result: delegate registration processing time was reduced by 80%, with improved reporting and customer service.
Management information · Historical project

Dennis Cooper Cars: turning sales data into useful information

The problem. The dealership could not easily calculate the full cost and profitability of each vehicle or produce the analysis required by its manufacturer.

The solution. IT Partnership created a system to capture individual costs, search and report across stock and sold vehicles, produce analysis and improve purchasing decisions.

Outcome: the archived case study reports more timely and accurate profitability information, followed by further software commissions from the customer.

Why keep these older case studies?

The platforms used in these projects are not being promoted as today's technology. They are retained because they demonstrate the kind of work IT Partnership has long specialised in: understanding a business process, translating it into reliable software and supporting it over time.
